She examined the miniature dolls first and exclaimed "Wow! Foot fell off too, it's fun!" I let her played with it - literally finished building it before I asked her questions about what she likes about it or if there is anything that doesn't seems nice for her.These are the pros and cons: PROS 1. She liked the color because it is consistent with the theme. 2. The detail of the accessories like camera, bag seems very accurate. 3. She also liked that blocks is sturdy ( she kept pushing down the bench and it won't come apart ) 4. The toy's manual is easy to follow. CONS 1. Doll - she tried to unattached the crutch from the hand and the whole arm got dislocated, it came apart easily. 2. Floor Mat - is it too flimsy and low-end quality that the dolls couldn't stand still on it. 3. Manual - some parts of the blocks coloring in the manual is different from the blocks itself.I would give it 5-star rating if the floor mat is usable. Let me first say as a parent, the easy to open box makes this a winner without even putting the set together! The perforated back makes it easy to open buy adult and child without the paper cuts and mass that usually accompanies these boxes. Once I open you will find that the the pieces are packaged in several separate bags to make four easy construction. The instruction manual itself is quite large and the pictures are very detailed to make it super simple to put together! It took my eight year old daughter a total of about 40 minutes to put the whole thing together and play with it so it's very simple to do but is quite detailed once it's put together. My child is not an American Girl fan but she really enjoyed playing with this set as it has several pieces and several gymnastic apparatus to make for a lot of pretend play. She in particular enjoys the crutches and cast that come with the set. My only complaint, is that our set in particular was missing one piece. It was a very small piece that had no significance to the actual play set it just held a speaker but when it's a new set you expect all the pieces to be there. The set itself given its level of detail you would expect to be quite fragile and in fact it's very durable. My daughter actually dropped it on our tile floor and it held up in quite a few large pieces rather than completely breaking apart and several small pieces. Overall this toy is really neat to see and very fun for children to play with, especially both girls who are fans of the American Girl line and of gymnastics. I was very impressed!
