WHAT EXACTLY IS SPF?
The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates how many times longer a person wearing sun protection can stay in the sun before starting to burn, compared to if they aren’t wearing any sun protection.

The level of SPF you need depends on:

- your skin type
- where you’ll be in the sun
- when you'll be in the sun.

RELIABLE PHOTOSTABLE PROTECTION
All NIVEA SUN protection products are photostable, so their ingredients which protect you from the UV radiation aren't degraded by the sun.

However, sun protection should still be re-applied roughly every 2 hours as contact with sand, towels and sweat causes protection to be rubbed or washed off the skin.

UV FILTERS
There are 2 types of UV filters: mineral filters and chemical filters.

Both technologies have been tested thoroughly by independent institutes and have been approved by international and/or regional authorities. They have been applied for many years in different variations.
