Feature
- Accurate and fast results. The meter requires no more than 5 seconds to measure and delivers results that correlate with a lab test in an excellent way.
- Strip expiry warning. The Accu-Chek Active meter alerts you and marks the value accordingly if you try to measure your blood glucose with an expired strip.
- Out-of-meter dosing. Applying blood onto a test strip outside the meter helps to minimise the risk of contamination (e.g., in hospital settings).
- Under-dosing detection. The meter signals the application of too little blood to the test strip and enables re-dosing in the meter within 5 seconds.1
- Visual double check. The visual double-check option gives you a back-up on your blood glucose values. Just compare the colour in the test strip control window with the colours on the vial.
- Blood sample. Only 1-2 micro litres of blood is required to run a blood glucose test.
Data transfer. The meter has an infrared port enabling you to download stored test results to a computer with Accu-Chek Smart Pix device.
- Automatic coding. The code chip allows for expired test strip alerts. Furthermore, it programs the meter automatically and updates selected meter features as valuable technological upgrades become available.

Measuring.
After inserting the test strip into the test strip guide in the direction of the arrows, the meter turns on automatically.
After a short display check and a code number confirmation (it has to correspond with the code on the vial), the test strip and the flashing blood drop symbol appear on the display. Apply the drop of blood to the centre orange field and remove your finger. After approximately 5 seconds, the result is displayed.
When removing the test strip the meter turns off automatically and saves up to 350 results in memory together with date, time and averages.
Out-of-meter dosing.
When the test strip and flashing blood drop symbols are displayed, remove the test strip from the meter. Apply the blood to the test strip and reinsert it into the meter within 20 seconds.
Flagging test results.
You can flag a test result while the test strip is still in the meter and the result is being displayed. You can choose from the Before Meal flag, the After Meal flag, the General flag and the Control flag. Just press the S button repeatedly until the desired flag is displayed. After choosing the desired flag, the test result is automatically saved with the flag.
Visual plausibility check of test results.
Check the round coloured control window on the back of the test strip.
Compare the colour of this window with the colours on the label of the test strip vial for plausibility check. But consider: Only test results displayed by the meter should be used for therapeutic decisions.
In addition to fingertip testing, the new Accu-Chek Active can be used for testing on alternative sites, including the palm, forearm, upper arm, thigh or calf. Alternative site testing requires the use of a special lancet cap.
