- Feature : Given so many available prices and devices, it is not clear which one to buy. To know the true cost of each measurement, price comparison should include the price of the test strips and lancets and how many measurements are needed to have +/-10% or better measurements. The cost of each measurement using AC-300 is about 50 Cents or less in volume. In addition, one should compare manufacturer specifications. True results indicate some devices require more than 5 seconds time, and/or more than 0.005cc blood per measurement. However, most important spec is the accuracy of the measurements. With no confidence in measurement accuracy, not only all the money, time, pain and blood were wasted, but more importantly too low, too high or undeterminable results will be provided for analysis and medications. As a result of inaccuracy in measurements, lack of medication, improper amount of medication and/or unnecessary medication can be expected. So far all devices are approved for +/- 20%. This means it is acceptable for a device to measure 80 or 120mg/dl for a true value of 100mg/dl. 40% variation in accuracy is too much and must be reduced for accurate analysis. When performing comparison and acceptance tests on AC 300, more than 90% of measurements were within +/- 15% of which more than 70% were within +/- 10%. The main reasons are excellence in manufacturing, patented calculations and hermetically sealed coded test strips which include self calibration. In addition, AC-300 Software can help achieve better than specified results without the need of user recording measurements, it provides not only the results, but various graphs of the results to enhance physician analysis and prescription. / To obtain better than 20% accuracy, the true result accuracy of each measurement can be achieved by averaging and providing true variation results. Hence one should at least make two in row measurements of fresh blood. If the results show more than 10% variation in true measurement results, one wonders which measurement is correct. More measurement results are needed until average measurement with better than 10% variation is achieved. For example: If the measurements indicate: 100 and 115 mg/dl (x0.18 for mmol/L) for the first two measurements and 85 mg/dl for the third measurement, the average of 100 can be better estimated by calculating the weighted average of more measurements until better than 10% variation is achieved. If the first two measurements indicate 100 and 104 mg/dl, better than 10% variation is achieved. More measurements may not be necessary although can enhance measurement repeatability and confidence in variations among true blood sample measurements. In summary, if the measurement is only done once, the next measurement may be within +/- 20% or more. Given blood sugar levels do not change much in one or two minutes, it is best to obtain 2 or more measurements results to be aware of measurement variations. AC-300 software helps you and your doctor to know the measurements average and variations. Reasons for the measurements variations may include but not to: the amount of fresh blood, cleansings of hand/fingers, lancet apparatus, test strips, conditions mentioned below and others. One should be aware that such large variations may exist in each measurement and to gain confidence in true results. One needs to measure two or more times. Usually, with one pock of a 30G Lancet/needle, enough blood can be squeezed for three different test strip sample measurements using AC300. / GoodLife AC-300 is designed for self-testing of blood glucose in capillary whole blood. Many normal people have fasting blood sugars in the mid and high 70 mg/dl (3.9 mmol/L) range. Though most doctors will tell you any fasting blood sugar under 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/L) is "normal", there are several studies that suggest that testing with a fasting blood sugar in the mid 90 mg/dl (5 mmol/L) range often predicts diabetes that is diagnosed a decade later.
