Why do you need a specialised Whisky Tasting Glass?
Because you love whisky, and the traditional whisky tumbler (see below) is no longer good enough.
A specialised whisky tasting glass is necessary to enjoy the full flavour of any whisky, especially for fine whiskies which have extremely complex and nuanced flavours. Such a glass has a distinctive tulip shape (ie. curves inward towards the top of the glass), which allows it to hold and focus the aromas of the whisky, and to channel the aromas to the drinker's nose. As a lot of the tasting sensation happens through the nose (there are more than a thousand discernible aromatic compounds, and the nose picks up many flavours and sensations that the tongue cannot), being able to properly smell a whisky is crucial to truly experiencing it.
