At the same time her clock quit on her as well. I purchased this because it had the butterflies on it. Butterflies are a symbol of happiness and my mother's friend was really into butterflies. It turns out that it's too big for my bedroom. I ignored the 12" diameter dimension when I ordered. It is definitely 12" across and would be well-suited for a large room or for two adjoined rooms.
