We tried and tested this important function, and yes you can still hear your caller, and your caller can still hear you :)
Clarity is quite good @ 99% , although not perfect 100%.
The sound ports have to be sealed off to be kept truly waterproof. If it is exposed, water will enter your device.
Q: CAN I CHARGE MY PHONE, PLUG IN MY EARPHONES,
PRESS THE SIDE VOLUME & LOCK BUTTONS?

Just like waterproof pouches, your phone has to be completely sealed off for it to be truly waterproof.
If the buttons, earphone and charging jacks are exposed and not sealed off, water will enter your device.
However, you can still adjust volume and lock your phone by turning on assistive touch!
Thus, this case is not meant as an everyday usage phone case.
Please note this and don't purchase if you want a case for everyday use! :)
This case if meant for use when you need to keep your phone dry during water sports, swimming, taking photos in the pool etc. An absolute must-have for travels and vacations!
