With the ability to store up to 25GB of data on a single Blu-ray disc or 50GB on high capacity Blu-ray media, and the ability to playback crystal clear Blu-ray movies, the Kangaroo external Blu-ray drive gives you the latest in high definition technology. The Kangaroo 16x BD-RE Blu-ray burner also supports DVD/CD burning and playback. The Kangaroo 16x BD-RE utilizes USB2.0 connectivity, providing plug and play ability so that you can use the drive with just about any system. Discs are created using "BURN Proof" technology to ensure fast, accurate burns. Simply plug the drive into an available USB port for instant access to the 16x BD-RE drive. As an added benefit, the Kanguru16x BD-RE Drive is bundled with burning and playback software for Windows. Note: Current Blu-ray writeable media can be written at 4x, 6x or 8x speeds. Each 1x is equivalent to writing 4.5MB/s. This equates to 18MB/s, 27 MB/s and 36 MB/s respectively. USB2.0 operates at a real world speed of 35 to 40 MB/s. The Kangaroo USB2.0 Blu-ray Burner can read and write Blu-ray discs at the maximum speed, performing as fast as higher priced USB3.0 Blu-ray burners. Playing a commercial Blu-ray movie on your computer requires Blu-ray playback software and HDCP supported hardware.
