物静かで控えめな女性を思わせるアヤメの香り

アヤメは球根から育つアヤメ科の元気な植物です。東南アジアで発見されたシベリアンアイリスは200種以上あるなかでも最も知られています。カトリーヌ・メディチは16世紀にこの花を世の中に広めたといわれています。それから100年後、粉にこされた根は香料のもととしてかつらや化粧に使われました。アヤメは歯を白くするものとしても使われ、そのパウダーのような微かな香りは恍惚とさせます。

The iris is a vivacious plant of the Iridaceae genus which grows from rhizomes ora bulb. First spotted in Eastern Asia, the Siberian iris is one of the most commonof over two hundred varieties, and is used in hybridizing. Catherine of Medicis madethis flower popular at the XVI century French court. A century later, pulverizedand sieved, its root became, an essence for perfuming wigs, hair and the make-up ofcourtesans. Iris is also used to whiten teeth. Its slightly powdery scent of furtivegreen whiffs is ravishing.
