These 90 pound rated magnets will hold the full 90 pound rated weight when mounted horizontally from the underside of a 1/2 inch thick steel surface. When mounted to thin metal, or in a vertical application (ex.the side of a fridge or a toolbox), the strength of the magnetic hook diminishes about 2/3 due to shear forces. The hooks thread into the magnet base, and will arrive disassembled. Any correctly sized thread can also be threaded into the magnet base to customize your application. Magnets should only be used by adults - be careful, these magnets are VERY strong!
