Computer Interface Module (PN: UMC-USB-W). Easy USB connection with most PCs. 6 foot cable included. Enables PC and powerline communication to configure Simply Automated UPB devices with UPStart software.
Once the Simply Automated UPB device configuration is completed - can disconnect the Computer Interface Module. The Simply Automated lighting system can independently control circuits without the Computer Interface Module attached to your PC!
UPStart Wizard makes configuring a UPB network and devices simple and easy.
Can transmit and receive lighting scene commands with other UPB dimmers, UPB plug-in modules, UPB fixture modules and/or other devices - can control virtually any device that connects to AC power wiring anywhere in the home.
To ensure a proper installation your home should be no more than 2500 square feet and have only one breaker panel. A phase coupler is required in some home installations. Not intended for use in multi-dwelling (condo, apartment, duplex) units.

Product Description

The Computer Interface Module, model UMC, is used to exchange digital commands between a PC (personal computer) or home automation controller and UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) devices in the home. The module communicates these commands over the AC power wiring. Model UMC-DB9 provides a Serial RS-232 interface with a DB9 connector and cable, for both configuration and control of UPB lighting. Model UMC-USB provides a USB interface with a USB cable, for configuration of UPB lighting only. The UMC-USB is not recommended for home automation controller interface applications (e.g. alarm system, PC or whole home controller). UPB devices can be freely located anywhere in the home. No additional wiring is required and no radio frequency signals are used.
