The ultimate Chinese good luck character.
The Fu character is an all-encompassing Chinese symbol of good luck/fortune. It is widely understood to mean prosperity, good fortune, good luck, blessings, wealth and happiness and covers anything to do with your life whether it’s from a family, career, health or even relationship/love aspect.

During the CNY festivities, it is common practice to put the Fu upside down. When turned upside down, the shape now resembles the word 倒 ‘dao’ which mean arrive. This brings the meaning that prosperity/good luck/fortune has arrived. Some people place it on the front door to bring luck through the front door but it is put up and seen on various walls and decoration items. Think of this as the Western turning a horseshoe facing upwards for good luck to fall in.
