Alchemy Power Inc. Pi-UpTime UPS provides UPS power. Power that is clean, stable, reliable, uninterruptible to the Raspberry Pi. Pi-UpTime UPS provides power mobility for the Raspberry Pi. Install one or two 18650 unprotected batteries (purchased separately) in the Pi-UpTimeUPS battery holder(s) and the Raspberry Pi continues to operate even when power fails or when the power plug is disconnected. The batteries are charged when power is available. UPS 5V and 3.3V (max 0.7A) is also available for other use. Battery level is monitored via GPIO 26. Sample software provided uses GPIO 26 and ensures a proper shut down when the battery power runs low. A power reset switch on Pi-UpTime UPS makes it easy to reboot the Raspberry Pi after a software shutdown. See image which shows two Pi-UpTime UPS stacked together. In our labs with two units, we have clocked around 20 hours run time on a Pi-3. Your run time will vary depending on battery capacity and what else is going on. NOTE - BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED. Note 1: after a discharge, without a proper shutdown when the batteries run low, the Raspberry Pi may reboot several times. Once the batteries are charged above 3V, the Pi will reboot properly. Please use the demo shutdown code to prevent the reboot sequence. Note 2: When purchasing cells, please note the discharge capability of the cells. If it says 0.2C and the cell/battery is rated for 2500 mAh, the max current is 0.5A for the battery. With 2 batteries installed, max current you can get is 1A. To reboot a Pi-3 you will need slightly more than 1A for reboot, expecially if you have other things installed on the Pi.
