Essentials - Young Guinea Pig Food is a high-fiber, alfalfa-based diet fortified with nutrients essential for growing, pregnant and nursing guinea pigs. Growing guinea pigs require more protein, calcium and energy. Essentials - Young Guinea Pig provides an optimized balanced protein source, containing the amino acids required for the growth and health of your guinea pig.

Guinea pigs require daily supplementation with Vitamin C. Essentials - Young Guinea Pig includes Stay C-35, a stabilized form of Vitamin C with a 12 month shelf life. Each 1/8 cup of Essentials - Young Guinea Pig contains 22 mg. of Vitamin C. To guarantee adequate Vitamin C intake, be sure the animal is eating the appropriate amount of Essentials - Young Guinea Pig. If additional supplementation is needed, provide Oxbow's Daily C chewable tablets or Natural Science Vitamin C Supplement.

Although Essentials - Young Guinea Pig Food is an excellent complete feed for guinea pigs, unlimited access to fresh grass hay should also be provided. Choose from Oxbow's Western Timothy Hay, Orchard Grass Hay, Oat Hay, Organic Meadow Grass, or Botanical Hay to provide additional natural fiber.
