The straight-cut end wouldn't even cut my fingernails or do anything but make hacked dents. So, I tried the curved end which did sort of cut through my fingernails but actually hacked and shredded them.Mine were brand-new and not repackaged returns or anything. I can't get a refund because I of course opened them and tossed the wrapper in the trash. Steer clear of these. I actually managed to re-assemble the $1 toenail trimmers and they work fine, and absolutely much better than these cutters! It's a two in one nail clipper, and fits all my purposes for cutting and shaping your nails It is strong enougjh to use on toenails too.
