He is big into the outdoors and also into helping us with the garden. This seemed like a natural fit. He liked the garden tools that came with it and was very happy to use them all outside in our garden. He looks forward to planting seeds in the greenhouse portion once the season is right for that (this came right at the end of summer, so we cannot really grow things and transplant them into the garden outside right now). It would be nice if the truck came with seeds ... that seems like something that should have come with it. Also, the truck is a bit hard to push around outside in the dirt and grass due to low clearance on the wheels (this just seems to be a factor with how the truck was designed - perhaps bigger wheel wells would solve this problem). Overall, we love the toy and have had good times playing with it ... we look forward to growing some plants in the greenhouse portion come spring! He didn't fully understand the process of planting but wanted to try. The little planter cups were a bit small for him to handle since he is almost 4 and he isn't super careful yet but I can see that maybe come spring time he may be better with planting some tomato seeds. What he did love was putting his cars on top of the truck and using the front of the truck to push his cars forward. He was interested in all the little add ons with this toy like the cones, soil markers which are shaped like a shovel, he especially liked the soil drill and the front of the truck that pulls off and becomes a hoe for dirt. That part seems like you may have to be a little more careful with and you should use fresh soil versus old packed dirt if your child wants to use the hoe. The truck itself is a great size and he loves pushing it and putting all his toys on it. This toy kept him busy for quite a while which is a plus for us! It will be especially great in the spring when we can take it outside for him to help with planting our veggie garden.
