VINTAGE INSPIRED- Just as in the first mahjong sets imported to America from Shanghai in the 1920s, the tiles of this particular set are hand crafted from snow white cattle bone and delicate slabs of Chinese bamboo. It includes a rosewood box that has a bone inlay with a design depicting bats (a symbol of good luck amongst Chinese mahjong players). The rosewood box dimensions are 13.3'' x 7.6'' x 3.2'' (33.9cm x 19.3cm x 8.2cm).
WELL CRAFTED TILES- Bone and bamboo are cut and carved into tiles one at a time, and the markings are inked by hand. These tiles are slightly smaller than most other tiles in the market. Since these tiles are hand crafted, the color and shape charmingly and subtly vary from tile to tile and from set to set. Each tile measures 1.3'' x 0.9'' x 0.5'' (3.2cm x 2.2cm x 1.2cm).
COMPLETE SET- Includes 144 tiles consisting of 36 Circles, 36 Bamboos, 36 Characters, 12 Dragons, 16 Winds (N, S, E, W), and 8 Flowers. Also included are 3 dice, a set of betting sticks, and 4 wind tiles for determining seating placement.
CHINESE MAHJONG ONLY- No Arabic (Western) numerals are inscribed on these tiles, but one who doesn''t read Chinese could easily learn the few Chinese characters in this set. Also, there are no Joker tiles (nor racks) included in this set. This set is for Chinese mahjong rules only.
