At just 7mm thick, the unidirectional carbon fiber sole in the Pearl Izumi P. R. O. Leader Shoes is incredibly stiff, yet surprisingly comfortable, due to the precision with which unidirectional carbon fiber can be applied. Pearl's designers were able to isolate the pieces of the sole that need to be the most stiff, as well as the portions where a little bit of flex is desirable and tune them for comfort and power transfer. Moving away from the sole, the paper-thin synthetic leather uppers, called Second Skin, keep your feet firmly planted and comfortable. Being a synthetic leather, it'll conform to your foot without stretching out over time, so you get the same, perfect fit, ride after ride. A Boa reel through most of the shoe, paired with a hook-and-loop strap at the toe, ensures the most adjustable, comfortable fit.
