I did not even use the sponge I just took the seal off the tube and used my finger, worked good and gave instant coverage. No mess to clean up and it washes off your finger easily. The product itself works great but the "EZ Dab" top does not. It is just a sponge with a hole in it for product to come out. Every time I tried to wipe off the excess it pulled all the product out of the hole.
