20.2 Megapixel, Full-frame CMOS sensor
EOS 6D incorporates a newly developed 20.2-megapixel Full Frame Canon CMOS Sensor for unrivaled image quality. Advanced semi-conductors and re-designed photodiodes structure are adopted in the new CMOS sensor to allow better photoelectric conversion rate for greater light-gathering capabilities, leading to improved signal-to-noise ratio with the help of refined transistors. Furthermore, the CMOS sensor features a Gapless Microlenses technology to improve the light-gathering efficiency. This allows a higher ISO setting and realizes terrific image quality with low noise and expanded dynamic range for both stills and movies.

DIGIC 5+ Image Processor
Featuring a brand new DIGIC 5+ ultra fast digital image processor which is about 17 times faster than DIGIC 4 with enhanced algorithm, sharp and clear images can be captured with impressive noise control. DIGIC 5+ supports 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion processing to retain fine image details and ensure better tonal gradation for smoother and natural colors.

Standard ISO range from ISO 100 to 25600

With the new CMOS Sensor and the DIGIC 5+ digital image processor, EOS 6D incorporates a broad standard ISO setting from ISO 100 to ISO 25600, also extendable to L(ISO 50), H1(ISO 51200) and H2(ISO 102400), providing as much as 12-stop ISO range. This ensures superior image quality even under different lighting environment.
Creative Functions for Expanded Shooting Possibilities
With the in-camera Multiple Exposures function, 2 to 9 images can be superimposed to achieve the desired multiple-exposed effect. It offers 2 compositing methods including “Additive” and “Average” for different creative expression.

The in-camera HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode can capture 3 images simultaneously with different exposure settings and then merge them into a HDR image in which details in both blown-out highlights and shadowed areas are retained. This allows easy capture of natural and detailed images even under difficult shooting situations with high lighting contrast.

New 11-point AF System
A new 11-point high-precision AF system including one f/5.6-sensitive high-sensitivity cross-type AF sensor at the center, designed for improved focusing performance especially at the frame center that caters the shooting preference of users, fast and accurate auto-focusing performance can be guaranteed. Focusing precision can be further improved when used with lenses with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or faster. Its high-sensitivity center AF point can focus in extremely low light environment of EV-3, allowing sharp images even in dim setting.

EOS 6D features approximately 4.5fps continuous shooting, it also offers Silent single shooting and Silent continuous shooting mode with a maximum burst of 17 RAWs using UHS-I standard SDHC/SDXC memory card or unlimited JPEGs till the card is full.

3-inch 1,040.000-dot Clear View LCD
Featuring multi-coating for anti-reflection, dust resistant and anti-smudging, the 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor with 3:2 aspect ratio and 1,040,000-dot resolution ensures clear display for different viewing conditions even under strong sunlight.

Electronic Level
The built-in electronic level that indicates the horizontal accuracy allows for more precise composition. It saves time and effort for post-editing and is especially useful when it is hard to determine the horizon in a composition with a naked eye.

A Convenient Multi Control Dial

The Quick Control Dial, Multi-controller and SET button have all been merged into one Multi Control Dial, enabling photographers to operate menus and enter settings quickly using their thumb, even when shooting vertically with the optional Battery Grip BG-E13. The mode dial also features a lock button base on users' feedback, preventing unintentional changes to settings mid-shoot.

Versatile Image Optimization Features

EOS 6D is equipped with an enhanced "A+" Scene Intelligent Auto mode. After analyzing the scene with the advanced EOS Scene Detection Technology which takes into account the key elements including faces, color tone, color saturation, brightness, contrast, subject’s movement and distance, the camera will select the optimal settings to ensure the best possible image. In addition, EOS 6D also offers Creative Auto, SCN and Picture Style Auto modes for easy creation of the desired mood, lighting and scene effects for an image. A unique effect can be created with ease by selecting from a mixture of personal styles, allowing users to achieve the perfect images as they want.

Compact and Lightweight Body, Perfect for Outdoor and Adventurous Shooting

Measuring just 144.5 x 110.5 x 71.2mm (W x H x D) and weighing 680g (755g with battery), EOS 6D is the most compact full frame EOS digital SLR camera ever manufactured. Featuring a sturdy magnesium alloy construction, coupled with strong Polycarbonate Resin used for constructing the top cover where the GPS and Wi-Fi antennas are installed to allow for excellent reception, durable and reliable performance, EOS 6D makes the perfect outdoor camera by being competitively lightweight and robust.

Full HD EOS Movie
The EOS Movie shooting in EOS 6D supports Full HD (1920 x 1080) movie shooting at selectable frames rates of 24p, 25p or 30p, and HD (1280 x 720) movie recording at either 50p or 60p to meet diverse needs. EOS 6D provides both IPB (Inter-frame) and ALL-I (Intra-frame) movie compressions for selection according to editing needs and file size consideration, allowing more flexibility in shooting and post-editing workflow. The new generation EOS Movie shooting can record beyond 4GB file size, as automatic file segregation will take place whenever the file size exceeds 4GB*4.
EOS 6D also supports the industrial-standard SMPTE Time Code for seamless compatibility with the film and TV industry, and is equipped with an external Stereo Microphone Input, real-time sound level display on the LCD monitor, and a Manual Sound Recording Level control for easy sound recording operation. Video Snapshot function is also integrated by recording a series of two-, four- or eight-second video snapshots and can then be assembled into a “Video Snapshot Album” for playback, producing movie-like montage effects.
 
Built-in Wi-Fi Function

EOS 6D features a built-in Wi-Fi function which supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz band) wireless LAN within a reception area of 30m and provides 6 communication functions.

Built-in GPS for Easy Review Location Information

EOS 6D comes with a highly sensitive and precise GPS unit to ensure excellent reception of satellite signal for appending location information (Longitude / Latitude / Altitude) and UTC time to an image’s EXIF for a full record of a photo journey.


It also supports GPS Logger function for recording location information continuously at set time interval, allowing easy tracking of shooting routes. With the Log file, a route map can be tracked and shown using the bundled Map Utility software after shooting. In addition, the GPS Time Sync function is also supported for synchronizing camera’s clock with UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) time received by satellite signal. By setting the function to automatic update and with the right time zone setting, accurate camera’s time can be achieved even when shooting abroad or in the field.
