It's not too bright but lights the desk area adequately. The gooseneck shaft is a little short when clamping on the desk edge. I clamped it on the vertical part of my shelves above the desktop so the lamp is just over the top of my 27" monitor. It doesn't overwhelm the monitor screen and lights the desk and keyboard area just fine. I like the dimmer, just press and hold the end of the tip. Also just tap on/off the tip. Very handy.I'm buying a second one for another desk as son as they get black back in stock. Went to reorder and all the had was white. The quality is far better than I expected and the illumination range is just right where I like it to be.
