Goldstone is a man made stone. It has been used as far back as the 12th century. Because it is not naturally occuring it can come in many different colors. The most sought after being the red and the blue coloring. All goldstone is made from glass. Adding and subtracting different materials and oxygen in the process leads to shinier stones or different colors. For instance the red coloring is created with copper and the more shimmering stones occur when oxygen is taken away. Goldstone goes by many different names including aventurine glass and monk stone or monks gold. This last name is from legend that is was first created in a monks laboratory.
