The Photographers' Formulary Hydroquinone is used for Black white photographic developer component, that builds density in combination with other developers.Note:Vitamin C can be used as a substitute for hydroquinone. Start by using 1.6 times the weight of hydroquinone and increase the alkali (i.e., borax, carbonate, etc.) by 1.6 times to compensate for acidity of the vitamin C. Stable under ordinary conditions of use and storage. Solution becomes brown in air due to oxidation.
