They were warm and soft. They were cushioned in a light way...not too dressy but not quite work socks.Somewhere along the line they changed.They don't keep their shape and the fabric can stretch out of shape. We bought these for years and sadly had to make a change. Even when my husband was working (at a computer) he liked to keep his feet toasty warm.Maybe the George company went the full route to dressier socks.I notice that the socks are quite stylish and maybe thats what men want. Or what women want if they are the sock stylists of the house. We still have some of the old version (socks) in the drawer--they still wear well with no holes or stretching. They have a special place in the corner---just like our beloved much used George Forman grill. If I could grill a turkey I would! (Walmart beef is terrific and tasty when we grill it!)
