This innovative drive center incorporates a spring-loaded stainless steel point and a set of razor sharp teeth which bite into the work piece. The novice turner will benefit from use of a Stebcenter by setting a lighter than normal tail stock pressure that will allow the work to spin on the point rather than kick back the turning tool in case of a catch. For advanced turners, a heavier tail stock pressure combined with Production turners will find that the greatest benefit of a Stebcenter is that you can remove work pieces without stopping the lathe. As you wind back the tail stock the spring loaded center pushes the stock out of the drive teeth and the piece can be safely removed.
