Activated B-12 contains equal amounts of 5- deoxyadenosyl cobalamin and methylcobalamin. These are the active forms of vitamin B-12. For normal absorption, B-12 requires intrinsic factor; but even without intrinsic factor, 1-2% of B-12 can be absorbed. Therefore, since there are 500 mcg per capsule, considerably more than the RDA of 2 mcg should be absorbed by anyone taking it.
