Tillandsia Ionantha Van Hyningii
Tillandsia Ionantha Vanhyningii was named in honour of O. Van Hyning when it was first discovered in Mexico during 1957.
However it is unlike most airplants, this rarer caulescent form;(elongated in a stem like manner) produces thick succulent-like leaves that can stem up to 20cm long. The upper leaves blush pink around flowering season.
It is a prolific propagator although not a regularly flowering airplant. And it will produces compact and criss cross matt-like clumps with new plants being produced along its stems giving that appearance of hundreds of plants growing closely together that leaves you unable to tell how many palnts existed withtin. An outstanding view to behold when that happens!
