Bjorn Juhl, the man, the legend, took a novel approach to designing the Purple Plexifier. He drew upon his intense study of both distortion and nonlinear amplification to think about both distortion and the factors that add up to create the distortion sound we all know and love. The Purple Plexifier was born in this image, as it seeks to cop the tone of a Marshall Plexi-not just the preamp, not just the power amp, not just the speaker cabinets, but the effect of all three working in unison. One Control's Purple Plexifier offers tons of flexibility in an impossibly small form factor. Three knobs for Treble, Dist(ortion) and Volume offer plenty of options, while a fourth control, Midrange, on the side gives you a fine-tuning option for the midrange character. The mids are flat when this control is maxed, and scoops them as you roll the control back. The Purple Plexifier seeks to capture not just the sound of a Plexi but also the feel, giving an unparalleled touch sensitivity with a great volume knob cleanup sound. The gain range of the Dist knob is quite large, giving players up to 67dB of boost to pummel your amp or other pedals in the chain. The size alone makes the Plexifier a great addition to a packed pedalboard, and because its tiny enclosure actually holds a nine-volt battery, you can add it to your rig without any extra power tap usage. Similarly, this gives grab-and-go players a great option for a small, lightweight pedalboard, or as the only pedal in one's arsenal.
