The JAS-39 Gripen Multi Role Combat Aircraft is one of the most successful single engine jet aircraft developments ever. Sweden developed the Gripen (Griffin) to replace the ageing Drakens and Viggens of the fifties and sixties. This exceptional aircraft maintains several unusual features, such as delta wings and canards, in order to increase the amount of mission profiles it can perform from short, isolated runways. The delta wings allow the Gripen to be incredibly maneuverable, even while carrying an 11,000 lb payload at Mach 2. Build this bad bird and you'll have to admit, the Swedes really know their planes!
