Unlike humans, flies can see UV light, due to their complex makeup of their eyes which are made up of hundreds of tiny hexagonal lenses each. All light sources emit some level of UV and it is this UV that flying insects are actively searching out, mistaking it for the sun's rays.
Flytraps that use UV are generally safer to use indoors than conventional space or surface sprays, especially in an environment where ventilation is poor. Flytraps are not as invasive to people and pets as are insecticides that when sprayed over large areas create a tremendous amount of airborne particles.

Our electric UK1230E and UK1360E flytraps utilize the black light (ultra-violet rays) of the wave length, which is proven to be the most effective lure for light sensitive flying insects, such as flies, moths, mosquitoes and other flying insects, to exterminate the unwanted flying insects.
