Kabazaiku is the traditional Japanese art of fashioning tea caddys and other woodworks out of cherry tree bark. This classic-style wooden tea container is made from wood and then covered with cherry bark. Keeping moisture levels relatively constant, the cherry bark acts as a natural insulator against changes in humidity, which is essential in the storage of quality green tea.

The cherry bark is glued to the wooden body, this can cause the tea container to emit a strong smell when new. Fill with dry rice for 1-2 days to neutralize.
