Hybrid control ring for function customization

Various camera functions can be assigned to the control ring for faster access. A control lever is provided on the front of the camera for quick switching between two kinds of control (digital control and analog control). The digital control can control the exposure and photometering while the analog control can control focusing and zooming.

Touchscreen panel with quick response

The capacitive touchscreen panel lets you take pictures with ease, comfortably and intuitively. The touchscreen function can be used in two ways: with the Touch Shutter, all you do is lightly touch intended subject on the touchscreen panel, and the camera immediately focuses and releases the shutter ,virtually instantaneously; with the Touch AF, touching the panel executes only the fast autofocusing, leaving you to release the shutter when you're ready by pressing the shutter button. The LCD panel can be tilted in the range from 170° up to 65° down, enabling shooting at high and low angles, as well as self-portrait monitoring.

Operability proven with OM-D/PEN

The Live Control that permits checking of the effects of various settings on the rear-panel LCD monitor and the Super Control Panel that lets you simultaneous change multiple settings are just a few of the convenient interfaces that have already demonstrated their worth on our OM-D and PEN series system cameras.

The i.ZUIKO DIGITAL lens is a true masterpiece ,something that could only be crafted by the advanced technological power and expertise inherent to the world's leading optics manufacturer. This lens boasts sharp imaging performance that is uniform from the center to the periphery, and enables clear, high-quality photography with reduced ghosts and flare. At the telephoto end, the bright F2.5 aperture allows you to enahance the subject with beautiful defocusing. At the wide-angle end, an even brighter aperture of F1.8 makes the camera useful in shooting under low light. For macro shooting, too, magnification is stable from the wide-angle to telephoto positions.

Various functions

Full High Definition Movies
The XZ-2 can record a full-HD movie at 1980 x 1080 pixels. Features like multimotion-compatible image stabilization, Art Filters and scene modes are applicable to movies, making it easy to produce slick, pro-style videos.

Advanced Image Stabilization
A sensor-shift type image stabilizaiton mechanism eliminates the effect of camera shake on still photos. During movie shooting, a newly developed image stabilization algorithm compensates for large camera vibrations at low frequencies such as those produced by walking or breathing.

Live Control
You can see how various settings will affect the image on the rear-panel LCD, so you can get the picture exactly right before you shoot it.

Multi-Aspect
Four aspect ratios - including 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 6:6 - are available. Just select the one that best suits your subject or theme.

Built-in ND Filters
ND filters provide exposure control in three steps, allowing the XZ-2 to shoot images by making use of the F1.8 to F2.5 aperture performance without overexposure even under high light.

AF Illuminator for Secure Shooting under Low Light
In addition to the improved low-brightness performance of autofocusing, an AF illuminator is incorporated to support shooting of dark scenes. The illuminator light reaches a range of about 3 meters and can be switched ON/OFF as required.

Shooting Modes
In addition to the "P/A/S/M modes", the shooting modes also include iAuto, in which the camera automatically selects one out of a total of 32 types of settings, and SCN, which consists of 15 different scene modes. With the e-Portrait scene mode, the image is processed to produce a bright, smooth effect for the subject's skin, resulting in a beautiful portrait photograph.

AF with Eye Detection
The Eye Detection AF automatically focuses on the eyes of a human subject, and is a powerful tool for portrait photography. With improvements in accuracy, it is possible to detect the eyes easily even when taking a chest-up portrait. This function automatically focuses on the closest eye, or you can also select Left eye priority or Right eye priority to easily focus the camera on the eye of the subject you want to focus on.
