All Filtrete™ Air Cleaning Filters are electrostatically* charged. As air passes through the filter, airborne particles are attracted to and captured by the filter's pleated fabric. Our electrostatic filters capture both large and small particles**— down to 0.3 microns in size.

This is different from fiberglass, washable, and non-electrostatic pleated filters, which have no charge. Without electrostatic properties, these other filters can't capture the smaller particles as effectively.

3M™ developed the Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) system to demonstrate a filter's ability to capture the smallest airborne particles—from 0.3 to 1 micron in size from the air passing through the filter. The MPR system helps you compare Filtrete filters based on the level of air filtration you want. The higher the MPR, the better the filter's ability to capture particles from the air as it passes through the filter.

MPR is different from MERV, the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. The MERV system measures a filter's ability to capture large particles. The MPR only takes into account the tiny microscopic particles between 0.3 and 1 microns.

The Filtrete™ Air Purifier – Model FAP02 has the proprietary Filtrete™ filter manufactured by 3M™ which offers more air circulation and a higher dust and pollen capture rate than a comparable Air Purifier using a HEPA filter*. The permanently charged Filtrete™ filter captures particles as small as 0.1 microns in size and 99.9% effective at capturing large particles such as pollen, mold spores, and dust mite debris. For rooms 160 sq. feet. or less. It is also easy for filter change as no tools are required.

This Filtrete™ FAP03 replacement filter captures up to 99.9% of the following indoor air pollutants: dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander, bacteria, virus carrying particles, smoke, smog and other odour carrying particles. To accomplish this, the FAPF03 air filter attracts and retain microparticles that can aggravate allergies and cause respiratory problems. It is also easy for filter change as no tools are required.
