These ''Snap-On'' vent locks are constructed of stamped steel, and they come in a white, painted finish. These types of sliding window locks snap onto the lower inside rail, and they are designed to stop the sliding panel in place, providing a permanent stop position at a desired venting point. These locks fit on rail thicknesses ranging from 1/16 in. to 3/16 in. thick. They will work with most older metal-framed horizontal sliding windows, but not all of them. When used as a secondary lock, these locks can assist in the prevention of accidental opening of windows (by children), as they cannot be forced open.
