This attractive, one-piece, space saving dish is suited to all cats and most SMALL dogs such as Pomeranians, Yorkies, and Chihuahuas with the smaller muzzles. A wider bowl would be better for the flatter, fuller muzzle dogs (as Pugs) or cats (as Persian). The low scooped sides will not block their vision. Pets are noticeably more comfortable when able to sit or stand when eating. Senior pets and those with arthritis in particular, will benefit from an elevated dish, because crouching to floor level can be very painful for them. Pets with poor appetites will very likely eat more. Also, vomiting, which may be caused from eating from a level lower than the stomach, will cease to be a problem! For maximum eating comfort the rim of a pets dish should be around mid to lower chest area when standing. This dish will fit this requirement for virtually all small pets. Because the rim of this dish is 5.5" high, this dish is easier to pick up from the floor by people with back issues and from wheelchairs. The pedestal will also discourage ants!
