The Brown & Sharpe 599-752-3 toolmaker’s vise is made from ground and hardened steel for smoothness and durability. The tongue is fixed to a large jaw, which slides into a groove in the base and is held in place by a strap that prevents the jaw from lifting. It has two jaws and 1 15/16” capacity.
Vises are commonly used for drilling, fitting, and laying out work on surface plates.
