These are traditional Russian nesting dolls, designed similar to the first nesting dolls created in the late 19th century in Russia. Like the originals, the Russian Nesting Dolls are carved from a single piece of wood, broken down into pieces. It is then hand carved and hand painted.These five dolls all have feminine features and brightly colored details, along with golden birds on the front of each figure. These hand carved beauties are made of linden wood, gouache and lacquer, and are imported from Russian artisans.
