The healing power of grapefruit, from its pulp to its seeds is documented in numerous studies. Not only is it a superb antimicrobial agent (even compared to such things as chlorine bleach and isopropyl alcohol!), it is, more importantly totally non-harmful. There are very few allergic responses attributed to grapefruit. It is also a well known and used preservative, purifier and antiseptic. Fresh grapefruit contains natural salicylic acid, which is a well known and widely studied anti-acne ingredient used widely in skin care products. Grapefruit naturally reduces or eliminates built up calcium deposits that can not only form in the joints but on the skin as little white bumps called "milia." The naturally occurring pink color is due to its high content of lycopene, which is a powerful free radical neutralizer. Free radicals cause cancer and are only neutralized by anti-oxidants. It is common knowledge now that Vitamin C is one of the best antioxidants for the body, both internally and topically.
