What is the StVZO?
German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (German acronym StVZO) require bicycle lights to have a minimum brightness, and a beam pattern with a horizontal cutoff point. Much like a car headlamp in the dip setting, the beam projected out must be below a set brightness above a certain height, to ensure other road users aren't dazzled.
