Prior to the advent of super ramps and mega roll-ins, Christian Hosoi dominated the higher elevations of vertical skating in the 80s with unparalleled style. Sponsored at a young age, Hosoi went pro for Sims Skateboards in 1982 before jumping over to Alva for a brief stint. in 1984, Christian broke off to start Hosoi Skates with his father Ivan, at which time he debuted the avant-garde Hammerhead model. The novelty and consequent popularity of this board kicked off the whole money bumps fad in skateboarding and it remains to be the most iconic shape from the 80s.
