The IR control only works with some particular brands of batteries, but we never know it with any introduction.Written by a customer while visiting shop.LEGO.comComment from -7/3/2017You are correct that there is a certain popular brand of battery that our LEGO Power Functions do not work with.Being a European company our designers did not take into account that not all batteries are built the same. This means that Duracell batteries are not able to be used in our products due to having a shorter positive end. Due to the shorter positive end it is not able to make contact with the receptor and power is not able to flow from the battery to the unit.
