Arete in the metaphorical sense.Sometimes the arete of the climb is a literal sharp edge that will cut your climbing rope if you fall. Most of the time, the arete of the climb is simply dealing with cold temperatures that will cut into your skin if you aren't wearing something sorta warm like the La Sportiva Men's Arete Pant. Essentially a stretchy sweatpant, the Arete Pant will keep you warm as you work out your project's most challenging cruxes.
