Jal Neti Pot : Nasal Irrigator
Nasal Irrigation or Jal Neti has been around for ages, and is an essential part of the yogic practice.
Saline nasal irrigation is a popular home remedy to relieve conditions such as allergies, colds and mild sinus infections. It is great to fight haze/pollution related respiratory issues too !!
Neti removes all the dirt and bacteria filled mucus from within the nose.
It also helps to drain the sinus cavities. This in turn, will help to reprogramme the body’s natural mechanisms against nasal infections such as hayfever, allergies, sinusitis and other upper respiratory complaints like sore throats and coughs, post nasal drip, inflammation of tonsils and adenoids.
It is beneficial for illnesses such as asthma and bronchitis as it reduces the tendency for mouth breathing by freeing the nostrils of mucus.

·Fill the pot with lukewarm water that is either distilled or boiled and cooled. Be careful about the temperature, it should NOT be cold, just lukewarm
·Drop a pinch or two of sea salt or Himalayan salt into the pot and stir it. You could taste a drop – it should taste like your tear drops
·Tilt your head to the left side and hold the spout to the right nostril. Open your mouth and breathe through your mouth. The water will start flowing out from the left nostril.Blow your nose to remove all the water.
·Repeat on the other side.
·If you have a blocked nose, it may take some time, but the lukewarm water will help to clear your nose.
It may feel funny or difficult at first to do this, but soon you will master the technique and reap its benefits
