The Thule T2 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack is a premier platform hitch rack that offers maximized features, performance and convenience fit for both serious and casual riders. A hitch mount rack, the T2 attaches to your vehicle''s pre-installed hitch receiver located below the rear bumper. The two models available in Thule''s T2 product line are design for use with different sized receivers - the 916XTR T2 working with 2-inch receivers and the 917XTR T2 with 1¼-inch receivers. Both contain two heavy-duty tubes, each with two molded wheel trays that cradle and support the weight of bikes from below via its two wheels. Bike tray assemblies accommodate bikes from 20 to 29-inch wheel diameters and with up to 3-inch wide tires. Bike trays work in conjunction with wheel straps that hold bikes to the wheel trays and two independent SecureHook support arms -- one for each bike -- that ratchet down on the top of mounted front bike tires, holding the whole bike securely in place without any contact with the frame. When not in use these two arms fold down inline with the bike trays. This combination of wheel trays secured at hitch receiver level and SecureHook arms allows for fast loading and unloading of bikes with minimal lifting for ultimate convenience.
The Thule T2 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack also protects your mounted bikes from thieves with its multi-tiered locking system consisting of an integrated cable lock that secures bikes to the carrier without making frame contact, and the Snug-Tite lock that secures the rack to your vehicle at the receiver hitch. In addition, the unique Snug-Tite lock does double duty for owners by virtually eliminating hitch carrier movement.Leaning and Folding Hitch Switch Functionality
The T2 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack product line also contains unique folding and leaning functionality via its Hitch Switch feature. Based on a pin-based mechanism located at the base of the unit, this feature allows for maximum flexibility as users can fold the bike trays completely up when not in use and lock them into place. This allows for ease of driving and parking with the carrier remaining mounted. This same feature also makes it possible for bike trays to be temporarily angled back towards the rear of the vehicle and automatically held in place when not driving, allowing for rear vehicle access.Easily Upgradable To a 4-Bike Carrier
