The needle is 3 1/2 inches long and 1/8 of an inch wide making it easy to fit through the eyes of a boat shoe when lacing

Use with 1/8 inch leather shoe laces. Just cut the end of the strip to fit the needle. The thickness of the leather is all you pull through the holes. You don't double the thickness like you would with the hook method making possibly tearing the leather or pull the eyelet out
