This 4-Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating,refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast ironcan be used on gas, electric, ceramic, as well as in the oven. Thecookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds thencoated with multiple porcelain layers. The porcelain surfaceeliminates the need to season cast iron creating a smooth, hardsurface that is easy to clean while maintaining superior heatdistribution and heat retention. Better heat retention willactually reduce the amount of energy needed for cooking so it savesmoney. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. Stainless steel knobis oven safe to 500-Degree Fahrenheit. Not recommended for use onoutdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use inmicrowaves. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, notexposed cast iron.
