Introduction
Ovulation test assess the amount of luteinizing hormone(LH) you have in your system. Just prior to ovulation, an average of 36 hours before ovulation, a test strip will show this LH surge. An increase in luteinizing hormone means that the egg is soon to be released into the fallopian tube. This is an optimal time to have sexual intercourse if you desire to become pregnant.
Luteinizing hormone (or LH) in elevated quantities causes ovulation (the release of the egg - or ovum - from the ovarian follicle). During the menstrual cycle only a small amount of LH is made, but in the middle of the cycle LH briefly and dramatically increases. This increase is called the "LH surge" and precedes ovulation. Conception is most likely to occur within thirty-six hours following the LH surge. The LH Ovulation Test is specifically designed to detect your LH surge - the time when you are likely to ovulate. If you receive a positive on an LH test, you are in your most fertile phase of your menstrual cycle.
When to start testing
Determine the length of the menstrual cycle. The length of the menstrual cycle is the number of days from the first day of menstrual bleeding to the day before bleeding begins on the next period. Determine the usual length of the menstrual cycle over the last few months. Then, refer to the Ovulation Calendar Cycle Chart below to determine on which day of the menstrual cycle to begin testing. If your cycle is less than twenty-one days or greater than forty days, consult a physician.

How to use
■ Wash your hands with warm water and soap.
■ To begin testing, open the sealed pouch by tearing along the notch. Remove the LH test from the pouch. Note: The ideal time to test is in the afternoon, not early morning, though testing may safely take please from 10:00 am to early evening.
■ Hold the round end of cover with one hand. Use the other hand to pull out the test device and expose the absorbent tip.
■ Point the absorbent tip downward. Place the absorbent tip in urine stream for at least seven to ten (10) seconds to be thoroughly wet. NOTE: Do not allow urine to splash into the result window. To prevent urine from splashing the result window, during application, place your thumb over the interpretation window while holding the test in the urine stream.
■ Re-cap the device, lay flat on a table, and wait for color bands to appear. Depending on the concentration of LH, a positive result may be observed in as few as 40 seconds; however, to confirm negative results, the complete reaction time (10 minutes) is required. It is important the background of the result window is clear before the result is read.

Positive test result: If two color bands are visible and the test (T) band is equal to or darker than the control (C) band, ovulate will probably take place within the next 24-48 hours.
Negative test result: Only one color band appears on the control (C) region or the test (T) band is much lighter than the control band. There is no LH surge.
Invalid test result: There may be a time when none of the bands appear. No visible band at all.

Attention
■ Test between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. The LH surge is very brief, so testing twice a day gives you the best chance of detecting it. Test at the same time each day.
■ Remember that there is always some amount of LH in your system, so a light test color band should not be interpreted as a positive result.
■ This test is designed for single use only and should not be reused.
