It was about 8 dollars in the store. Bought a tiny 40w lightbulb for it and guess what, THE LIGHTBULB WILL MELT THE LAMP SHADE. The next day i noticed a hole on the lamp shade, and the area around the hole was loosing its shape like it was melting. What a P.O.S. Oh AND the silver piece connected to the switch at the top gets HOT! Ouch! Felt like i was touching a hot baking pan without a oven mit! DO NOT BUY THIS, BUY SOMETHING ELSE. Honestly, when I got it... I was pleasantly surprised. It's large (well, the perfect size), Bright and colorful, and sturdy! I actually prefer this to desk lamps that sit on your desk because it's not taking up space! I work at home and needed some task lighting. It is even better than I expected for such a low price. I am now searching for another one to be able to remove the desk lamp on the other side so I can free up more desk space!!! The gooseneck is nice and strong, but still easily positioned. The clip is sturdy and stable, with padding to protect semi-fragile surfaces. It grips very tightly. The color is much lighter than I expected, which is actually a good thing as the purple I wanted was not available and I had to get pink instead. There is a frosted shade inside the colored one to reduce glare, but the colored shade filters the light to a nice, vaguely rosy hue. I do note that there are some scuffs and scrapes on the shade because the packaging is very minimal. The lamps looked great, but after about a month of use, the plastic clip broke on both lamps in the same place rendering it unusable.
