You can use the two straps to cinch the lid closed for waterproofing as well as

This backpack is fully waterproof when you have the flap closed over the top of the bag securely. The bag also has a padded back that keeps items from poking your back; we got you!! The bag includes compression straps to aid in cinching the bag closed and to carry more items on the outside of the bag. We allow you to get creative and use the bag to the fullest extent! There are dual side pockets that double as a u-lock holster and a water bottle pocket.
