What is Luwak Coffee?
Coffee Luwak is the most exclusive coffee in the world.
Luwak(paradoxorus hermaproditus) is an omnivorous tree-climbing civet prowls the coffee plantations at night picking and consuming the finest and the best ripe coffee cherries. it is native in south East Asia Particularly Jawa, Sumatera and Sunda Lesser Islands. These pass through the civet and are collected in the dropping. Bean emerge without their fleshy coating but entire and appear un-disgusted. they are extracted by washing and carefully cleaned before being processed.
"Kopi Luwak" from southern Sumatera, Java and Bali are most robusta however from Mandheling region of northern Sumatera mostly produce Arabica or Robusta "Kopi Luwak"
Luwak use their knee sense of smell to select the very best ripe coffee beans. A Luwak will visit the plantation and eat only a fraction of the available beans leaving any that are inferior or not quite ready on the tree. This means that the beans are individually selected by animal that is specially adapted for this purpose and is far superior to human at doing this.
